HELP THE MAHLER ACADEMY IN BOLZANO

When Claudio Abbado founded the Gustav Mahler Academy 16 years ago, his intention was to

create a place where Europe’s finest young musicians would receive the kind of training that would

enable them to become the ideal orchestra musicians. !

The Gustav Mahler Academy has realized this vision extremely successfully and many of it’s

alumni are today playing in leading positions with the world’s great orchestras. !

Since last year the Academy was further extended by involving the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, an

ensemble that like few other resembles the spirit, excellence and enthusiasm that Claudio Abbado

was so very capable of evoking. Several MCO musicians will play together with the students in an

orchestra conducted by Daniel Harding.!

However, each year we have to turn away some 200 young musicians, many of whom would more

than deserve to be part of the Academy. Because Claudio was such an involving personality when

it came to music making and because helping young musicians was such a huge part of his

heritage we want to try and raise enough money to give this unique education possibility to as

many young musicians as possible.!

We are starting a crowdfunding effort with the objective to raise money for an additional 12

students from all over Europe to come to Bolzano and be part of the Gustav Mahler Academy this

coming July. We want to invite them on a full scholarship which is why we need your help. !

With a very small sum you can play a vital part in preserving this part of Claudio’s music-educationlegacy.

You can pay anything between 5 and 500 Euros and the objective is to raise 20.000€. The

little benefits we have prepared for you might sweeten your involvement even more!!

So please do give generously and tell your friends and family to help this wonderful cause!!
