Grand succès pour le LUCERNE FESTIVAL IN TOKYO 2006 (11 au 19 octobre).
15 000 Japonais enthousiastes pour douze concerts en huit jours.
Pour la première fois de son histoire, le célèbre Suntory Hall de Tokyo a convié un festival et son orchestre à donner une série de concerts sur huit jours. Ne pas «sim-plement» offrir des concerts, mais aussi faire vivre «l’âme du LUCERNE FESTI-VAL», tel était le but déclaré du directeur Michael Haefliger, de Masa Kajimoto, Pré-sident de Kajimoto Concert Management, et de Takeshi Hara, Président du Suntory Hall, une salle de concert qui fête ces jours son vingtième anniversaire et dont l’excellente acoustique en fait la plus demandée du Japon. Une présence aussi lon-gue en ces lieux et une activité aussi riche constituent un insigne honneur.
Le cycle de concerts a été ouvert par le pianiste Maurizio Pollini avec des pièces de jeunesse d’Arnold Schoenberg, l’Appassionata de Ludwig van Beethoven et la so-nate en si bémol mineur ainsi que des pièces tardives de Franz Liszt. L’artiste a re-mercié le public en donnant pas moins de cinq bis. Claudio Abbado, le LUCERNE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA et la soprano Rachel Harnisch ont, quant à eux, conquis leur auditoire avec des arias de W.A. Mozart et la Sixième Symphonie de Gustav Mahler. L’interprétation, en clôture, du Deuxième Concerto pour piano en si bémol majeur de Johannes Brahms et de la Quatrième Symphonie d’Anton Bruckner a valu une véritable ovation à Claudio Abbado, à son orchestre et à Maurizio Pollini. Don-nés chacun à deux reprises, les deux concerts symphoniques ont été complétés par trois concerts de musique de chambre, un marathon de musique de chambre, deux concerts de cuivres, dont un en plein air, ainsi que par des master classes de la cla-rinette solo Sabine Meyer et du premier violon Kolja Blacher.
Allant des enfants tout ouïe aux mélomanes avertis, le public japonais, très hétéro-gène, a confirmé une nouvelle fois sa réputation d’auditoire particulièrement bien préparé et attentif. Silence concentré à tous les concerts, vifs applaudissements et recherche intensive de contacts avec les musiciens, voilà qui résume assez bien l’atmosphère ayant régné tout au long de ces huit jours. Les nombreuses rencontres ont été cordiales et très fréquentées, comme lors du concert en plein air et des mas-ter classes, de même qu’à l’entrée de la scène, où une foule d’admirateurs se pres-sait pour glaner quelques autographes.
Avec 15 000 entrées, le cycle de concerts a été un formidable succès. Lors de la conférence de presse de clôture, les responsables Michael Haefliger, Masa Kajimoto et Takeshi Hara ont souligné, motivés et satisfaits, que le «LUCERNE FESTIVAL IN TOKYO était marqué au sceau d’une exigence commune de créativité et de qualité musicale».
Jürg Reinshagen, président du Conseil de fondation, et trente-cinq «Amis du LU-CERNE FESTIVAL», tous passionnés de musique, ont fait le déplacement depuis l’Europe pour accompagner la tournée.
Après Rome en automne 2005, il s’agit là de la deuxième résidence à l’étranger de l’orchestre créé en 2003 par Claudio Abbado et Michael Haefliger. Les détails de l’édition 2007 seront communiqués ultérieurement.
