Great emotion in NYC: the text of the dedication of Berliner Tour on our home page...

Our Member Kimitoshi Sato sent us this message , after the terrible 11 September 2001

Dear my friends

Music is a universal language, and art is the peaceful means of communication. Therefore sharing art with each other is the deepest experience which we may have in life. The depth of our compassion and love and consideration may be compared to that of the deadly traumas and scars, fear and hatred we may suffer during the war.So I repeat: art, including music of course, is the peaceful means of communication for us all on earth.

The CAI emanated from a group of "loggionisti" (spectators of the Loggione or the Gods) at the Milan Scala who, sharing a common preference for the conductor Claudio Abbado (at that time musical director of the Teatro alla Scala) followed him to his concerts outside Milan and on his tours. They called themselves "abbadiani itineranti".
From the idea to the real association many years as well as the departure of the conductor from Milan were necessary. This circumstance automatically increased the number of kilometres needed to follow him.

Thus the "Club Abbadiani Itineranti" was born and registered in due form, with a statute as well as a board of directors elected by the assembly of those members who have joined the club (more than 200).

We are neither press attachés of Claudio Abbado nor are we just another fan club. Our association brings together those who love music, who like to share this love of music and to pass on their passion. Following the example of Claudio Abbado we would like to help young musicians, explore new repertoire, open ourselves up to new musical forms or associate ourselves with projects which aim at developping the musical sensitiveness of the audience. But we would also like to ensure that Claudio Abbado's career is better known in setting up an archive of his artistic activities so as to help students, stimulate the curious or just conjure up memories of performances that blaze the trail of one of the greatest living conductors.

To achieve this aim we have created this web-site thanks to which we would like to open a real forum for music lovers.

We offer various services, in particular:
Correspondence - electronic - so as to enter into contact with us,
Archives, at present under construction ,
Information concerning our activities, our offers or questions concerning the
archives.

We also offer various services to our members, in particular:

Communication of supply and demand of books, records, tickets et al. as well as indication of links to other web-sites,
Animation of a discussion centre concerning musical subjects (with or without regard to Abbado),
Invitation to give us your opinion on musical life in Milan, Italy, England, Europe.
