On April 19th 2006, 5 p.m., the new recording of the Magic Flute, conducted by Claudio Abbado and produced by Deutsche Grammophon, will be presented at the Istituto Musciale Vivaldi, Piazza Parrochia 19, in Bolzano. The entrance is free. This presentation was enabled thanks to the Club Abbadiani Itineranti, the Istituto Musicale Vivaldi and the department of culture of the town of Bolzano.

The Italian edition of this recording will include a libretto in Italian and German as well as notes in Italian.

Bolzano is a town close to the heart of the Club Abbadiani Itineranti. There, since 1982, a deep relationship has been forged between Claudio Abbado and the cultural department of the town, thanks to Renzo Caramaschi. The CAI, founded to follow and support the artistic career of Claudio Abbado, is celebrating its 10th birthday. This will take place on the occasion of a concert given on April 19th by the GMJO (which has one of its residencies in Bolzano) and conducted by Claudio Abbado. Thus for the Abbadiani this first concert of another tour of this prestigious youth orchestra has a double meaning: be present, as usual, at a musical event which promises as so often a journey to the realm of emotions – and celebrate our tenth birthday. Birthday of an association which was founded to follow Abbado once he left La Scala for Vienna and later Berlin. The CAI, with Attilia Giuliani as its president, now has more than 400 members coming from Italy, needless to say, but also from Japan, France, Australia, Germany, Austria, Russia, Switzerland, Spain. Many will converge on Bolzano so as to share with this town (which founded “Music and Youth”) what they have built up during all these years: a name dear to those who appreciate the way in which Abbado dedicates himself to those young people who aim at a career in music. Abbado has always stated his belief in the concept of “making music together” as inspiration for a career directed to a large extent towards a younger generation. That is why the Abbadiani will once again be recognizable in Bolzano by that enthusiasm which distinguishes them as soon as it is question of advocating the right to musical education for all.
